Here I have come up with the web design trends that will define the industry in 2019.

2018 has been an exciting year for UX designers. They saw the prevalence of the trends like compact design spaces, story-telling designs, voice activated interfaces, micro-interactions and card based designs.

So what’s in store for 2019? As the first quarter of 2019 is on, it is time to have a look on some UX design trends so that you can ensure smooth, flawless and exciting interaction to the users with your website design and improve the design thinking.

On the basis of past years’ trends and possibilities, here I have rounded up important UX designs trends that will leave an impact in 2019 and beyond.

1. Video

Content comes in many forms. And the most striking and engaging form is video. The reason is pretty simple—videos are fun, interesting, and above all, grab the attention easily than text and images. By incorporating videos in your design, you can convey your message in a more powerful way. Apart from embedding YouTube videos, the use of video backgrounds is on the rise to create a pleasing aesthetic sense that static background images can’t. They give you a great opportunity to express more in little time, especially when the Internet users have a short attention span.

2. Over-sized Headlines

Another cool UX design trend to try this year is the over-sized headline. Maybe you are a fan of sleek and appropriately sized headlines. But over-sized headline can put more visual weight on your important message. Big and bold text will make users pay their attention to your message. However, over-sized headlines require more space on the page. What about sacrificing your negative space for that?
No matter what size you choose, make sure it is easy to read and doesn’t create a mess over the page.

3. Motion Graphics

The aim of a UX design is to create a great user experience and establish a connection between the user and a design. And motion design serves this purpose very well. As the name suggests, they are a moving graphic or a piece of text on a website or video. Broadly speaking, it’s a branch of animated graphic design. They can keep the audience engaged with your design.
However, they should be chosen according to the tone of your website. For example, if your brand is vibrant or playful, you can use motion graphics the way you like. But you have to be careful if your brand is associated with something serious like charity or social works.

4. Geometric Shapes

Over the years, geometric shapes have been gaining momentum in the field of web designing. They are used in the design, framing components and navigation to draw eyes to important parts of the website. Some popular geometric shapes in web design are circles, rectangles, triangles, trapeziums, and hexagons.

Here’s why they are a must-have for a killer web design…
• Geometric shapes create symmetry and balance.
• They are useful in creating perfect space for each element.
• Also, geometric shapes come in handy when ensuring consistency and repetition within web design.
• In addition, geometric shapes can be used both solo and in combination with one another to give your design a unique look.
• Lastly, geometric shapes are useful to build the layout of a website as all elements begin with a grid-like triangle, squares, and rectangles.
However, you should know how to use them strategically. For example, a square or rectangle can be used for CTA while circles are ideal for logos, statement, and icons.

5. Simple Navigation

A website looks cluttered and unstructured without navigation. It’s equally true that using complicated navigation can kill user experience as it eats up valuable time and confuses the visitors. It is like driving somewhere with unclear directions; you may get lost along the route as the directions are hard to follow.

This is why navigation should be simple, easy and clear as possible to ensure a positive user experience. You can do this by avoiding the mistakes like placing navigation in non-standard spot; using unreadable fonts; placing too many options; getting the order wrong.

6. Illustrations

Illustrations are another UX design trend to follow in 2019. They are a powerful tool that can turn an average website into something inspirational, something which can interact with the users and convey the brand message and something which can inspire the users to explore more. They can be remembered by people.

From storytelling, personification, explaining the concepts to stirring emotions, they help users understand the concept and connect them with your brand as well. In fact, they are far better than stock images. From woodcut, vector graphics, freehand digital illustrations to concept art, the world of illustrations for web designing is just endless.

So these are some groundbreaking UX design trends for 2019 you can make use of. Do you have other trends on mind? Please share by commenting below.
